Obama is coming, Obama is coming....to Canada that is.
Alright, being Canadian I think it is fair to say that Canadian's (the vast majority of us) are thrilled beyond belief that Barack Obama is the President of the United States, our best ally and dear friend.
Let's be honest here folks ... George W was not good for North America period. Anyone who opposes that view can "veto" my statement and then look at the world economic crisis....okay it's not ALL his fault.....back to the reason for my writing.
President Elect Obama will be meeting with our head of state Prime Minister Stephen Harper to discuss the economy and several other tid-bits....no there will be no mention of Omar Khadr, my heart goes out to the lad but right now the greater good of our two naton's come's first. As does the world economic crisis.
I am thrilled that he (Obama) will be visiting my home country, but I am disappointed he will not be available for the public to see. Understandably, I am sure he has enough on his plate, not to mention security will be a huge burden.
However between the Secret Service and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. I pray he enjoys his visit and makes several more visit's and lengthier ones so that we Canadians can truly show him how much our nation loves him.
Both leader's as well as leader's across the world have much work to do to get out of this slump, to put it mildly.
His first stop is Canada and that's enough for me.
We need to get some work done and fast.
I am sure the talks will be "fruitful" to quote Mr. Harper.
Either way, welcome to Canada President Obama.
The world loves you, whether you know it or not.
If we are really lucky, you'll serve two terms.
