Why did you do that? And how will you fix it? Explain it to me....I can try to help!Alright. Back from a wonderful weekend of fixing crap.
So we covered wordtracker and Yahoo Answers (www.answers.yahoo.ca) and google trends. Hopefully by now you guys and gals have had a chance to play around with this and get a feel for it.
Today I am going to focus on the art of blogging. Now as I always say BLOG stands for Better Listing On Google. No I haven't any proof of that but in the blogosphere those of us who run several blogs and websites all agree blogs will get you higher listings and better ranking.
To prove my point has anyone actually noticed that since
I changed the name of the url on this blog fromm www.need-to-get-some.blogspot.com to www.needtogetsome.net I have lost my pagerank and a lot of inbound links. Now for me this is not exactly news, I was well aware it was going to happen and I have been putting in the time to correct and fix this and ultimately make it a better and higher rank. Having said that I am also a self proclaimed geek and I know how to do this, I also understand it is going to take roughly six weeks to complete with time constraints that I have. This works to your advantage because I will be blogging about what I am doing, when I did it and more importantly why I did it.
So what is BLOGA? Better Listing On Google Accidentally. Yup, seriously, it was an accident that caused my traffic to blow up and it scared me because it shot up and then it vanished and then I got penalized. I found the problem and fixed it.
So here is what happened and what I don't want you to do. I was going though some firefox add-ons and well...I am ashamed since a few years back I had authored a somewhat successful ebook on firefox, no longer available as I didn't have time to update it every other day. I love firefox because the update and keep everything fresh which caused me the problem I decided I was going to test traffic sources and in the middle of it I downloaded a "hide the referrer" add on. Sill, silly me.
When I did this is the look my dog gave me >>Moving on I checked my analytics and my traffic vanished 120 percent in about 2 days! That my friends is not good. So I removed it from my computer and cleared everything and rebooted. Problem solved right? Wrong. The referrer was still tracking from a few other sources so I had to get creative to find it and destroy it. I am not saying that these are bad things, just bad for me.
Next motion of the day for accidental and this really threw my traffic up in a good way.
I read several blogs, I have a blog roll on this site, lower left and I follow over 140 blogs daily via google friend connect. Well, whilst reading a few articles I made a few key point comments and all of a sudden my site had been stumbled, added to groups and Holy Geez....nice traffic.
What I learned, well no what I remembered was that all successful bloggers read other blogs and leave real comments on them. It establishes a friendship and trust and traffic, let's be honest we all want traffic.
Next week I may or may not reactivate the comment feature on this blog, I have disabled it for a reason which I will explain in about 6 days.
Anyway I am off to enjoy the rest of the day.
Cheers.
