According to online sources her release is the largest pre-order in Amazon.com's 14 year history. Not bad for a 48 year old church singer who no one had ever heard of until she was a contestant on the British reality singing show Britain's Got Talent.
"Susan's album is clearly capturing the hearts of our customers around the globe," said Craig Pape, senior manager of music at Amazon.com.
Amazon obviously won't release the numbers but that isn't what matters here.
What matters, to me at least, is that Susan Boyle beat the odds. Her age, her lifestyle and her brief hospitalization for being incredibly tired from the press, pressure and singing didn't stop her from realizing her dream.
Well done Susan, well done.
