To this day it amazes me how people, well alot of people I personally know are so head strong in their belief that no one makes money online. It makes me laugh and cringe and just want to smack them.
A great argument I had with a friend awhile back regarding working from home online went a little something like this:
Me: Have you ever tried to work from home, specifically online?
Friend: Heck no.
Me: Why not?
Friend: Because everything online is a scam.
Me: How do you figure?
Friend: Look at all the emails people get, they are nothing but scams and B.S. stories trying to convince us to buy a product that won't work.
Me: And you know this from personal experience do you?
Friend: Yes. I bought an ebook on working from home and I did everything it said to do and I didn't make a dime...so I don't see how it is legit.
Me: WOW!!!! You are either really lazy or really stupid. Honestly, you bought an ebook, did everything it said, made no money and just quit.
Friend: Yes. And don't call me lazy or stupid. I did what the book said!
Me: You did what the book said once! How the HELL are you going to make money when you only tried ONCE?! That proves you're either lazy or stupid.
Friend: How do you figure?
Me: Like you said: I bought it, I did it and nothing happened. Proves my point. It proves nothing. If you went to a seminar and saw an autopsy done and then they let you practice once on a cadaver are you seriously telling me that you would be able to perform and autopsy again and again??
Friend: That is totally irrelevant.
Me: No it isn't. Working from home is exactly the same thing. You have to learn and study and apply what you've learned several times....before you start to get it right. Only then will you make money. You quit, you're lazy, not stupid but definitely lazy. You expected to buy a book and read it and become rich over night. Never gonna happen.
Friend: Oh, well....still...no one makes money online, at least no real or reputable company.
Me: Then why are you online? Email and (at the time) Myspace...why?
Friend: That and I like to browse deals on Ebay.
Me: (Jaw hits floor) I thought you just said that no reputable or honest company makes money online? I am pretty damn sure that Ebay is honest and reputable. Or are they a scam also in your opinion?
Friend: Drop it.
The moral of the story is this:
If you have bought every ebook under the sun and still not made any money, then maybe you should look at finding the reason.
I am not calling you lazy or stupid, that was something I said to try to drill a point into a good friends head. Please don't think I mean you.
The fact is that too many people buy an ebook or become an affiliate or try some ad market and make no money and then give up. I hate to be blunt but take some responsibility here folks. The author(s) of the ebook is in no way responsible for you not making money.
Maybe you didn't get what they were saying, it is possible. Hell to this day I have never figured out Google Cash but Chris Carpenter is still a God in my books.
I have never figured out how online MLM works but I don't knock anyone in it.
I took responsibility and tried several things and failed several times. Yup I said it. I FAILED...I also Persevered until I started making some money. Not much but some.
Then I noticed my money going away, it was then that I learned about the nastier side of the internet. Affiliate thieves, CPA thieves....thieves period.
So I educated myself and protected myself. I have over 40 websites and blogs online. All updated and maintained from a different computer. All updated with my pen name, not my real name.
All of them make money. How much money do they make. Enough to help me grow my offline business. I am not in it to be a millionaire.
So, yes people are making money online and even more aren't. Why?
Possibilities:
They give up too fast.
They don't educate themselves.
They don't fail and learn.
They really don't want the success.
When you want the success, when you really want the success....it will happen.
So, the next time you buy an ebook or a course, due your homework first. See what the market is like. Make sure you have a passion for whatever you decide to attempt, if you have no passion then you are doomed before you begin.
Most important lesson however:
TAKE RESPONSIBILITY!
Quit blaming every one else. It might take a few months to a few years but once you get it, it's a great feeling and it only get's easier.
Hell my first online check was barely over $100 bucks, it took months to get it, but I did it.
So can you!
