How my blog became an online turtle!

Maybe it is because of the month of December being busy...I am not sure, still it is no excuse to let my blog become an online turtle now is it?

I have been busy working with my "wife" and a few program type friends to come up with a new look for Need to Get Some. This change will be sometime in January 2010 and no later than the first week of February 2010.

Having said that I realized today whilst doing some check up work that my blog load time went from roughly 5 seconds to over 24 seconds.....YIKES.

I was going over my analytics when I noticed the problem. I found out that I was running a traffic script from awhile back and the script I had put in my HTML code actually caused my load time to drop like a mad hatter. Not impressive at all.

I would love to play the blame game here but the fact is that I didn't do my homework on the load time of this particular script and even worse I didn't test it the next day to ensure there were no problems.

I will not say the name because it is a great script, I simply configured it incorrectly. Problem solved....a little to late.

Since I made this error I have pretty much lost 80 percent of my organic traffic. I have a lot of work to do here.

Always check your HTML and your CSS coding.   If you aren't sure how to check your load time simply hop over to Pingdom. Pingdom offer's a great free service to check your website load time and more imprtantly they will keep a history of your results. Incredibly important so that you always no how well your site or blog is running.
