Blog to .... where?
Browsing through the wonderful world of the blogosphere I have been noticing quite an interesting trend. For most people what I am about to say will probably shock them or at the very least what to ask me "what the Heck I am smoking"
I have been noticing a ton of new blogs, okay that is not new there are literally hundred's of thousands of new blogs and websites going online every day. The interesting thing about these blogs is.....wait for it......wait for it.....
It is how incredibly ugly they are!!
Honest to God they are hideous and yet, they make me smile.
Yupper's, you heard that right. They make me smile because it is like watching a new born. It is reminding me of my beginnings and my struggles...remembering when I first learned to crawl and then walk and then run...so to speak. Even though a lot of these new blogs are really ugly there are about 15 that I added to my RSS feeder.
The reason being: The information.
The writer has excellent information on things that I am curious about or really enjoy reading. So think about that for a moment if you will...
My blog is not the prettiest, it's not gonna win any awards this year (although it one 2 last year...shameless plug...plus I paid for them with articles and traffic and headaches and ....where was I..)
Oh right, the ugly blogs. Sorry, lost my train of thought. ;)
My point is that I see alot of blogs out there that are ugly. But they are ugly to me, just like my blog may be ugly or plain to others. The blog theme really is not really important at the start of your blog career.
Worrying about appearance's and SEO are major factors. I am not trying to pull any one away from these things but the truth is that when you are first starting out you need to focus on one thing and one thing only.
CONTENT!
If your content appeals to even a small amount of people then believe me they will come back and read what you have to say.
They will become long term friends. Another really uber cool thing about the blogosphere is the friends we make.
Here is a killer joke for ya. I live in Timmins, Canada and I have a friend in Australia. He lives exactly half way around the world from me....that is so cool to me.
Folks, there is a ton of stuff to learn when you first start out. But stick to the basics and the rest will come.
Don't worry about:
My blog is so boring...
My blog needs work...
And whilst beginning don't even bother wanting:
My blog on Google
My blog on Yahoo
My blog on Facebook (okay this one is pretty easy to set up via friend feed so scratch that one)
I personally believe that the reason so many people out there give up quickly is because they are in it for THE WRONG REASON'S.
The internet is the ultimate place to make money and work from home.
It takes time and if you remember we touched on this in my last post.
Start blogging because you have something to say or share or teach.
Blog because you are passionate about specific things that can help people. Example: I have a blog on twitter information that I sadly haven't touched in months and it still get's traffic.
Don't get caught up with money making things like CPA's or adsense etc, etc. I will give you some free advice. The safest way to make money on any blog via advertiser's is if you set up the ad for them and you put the ad on your blog and you have them pay you personally. That way no one can rip off your commissions or your customer(s)
If you notice up on the right side you will see alot of not for profit organizations.
People donate to Sick Kid's or Doctors for Haiti etc and the money goes straight to the folks that need it and I improve my personal Karma.
It's a win - win!
Anyway folks.....the good old days are gone.
If you build it they ain't gonna come...well, that is true and false. Have good content, get over to entrecard and set up an account for some new friends and traffic.

Entrecard has been very helpful to me in getting things moving along a bit better. The only thing I might add [and hopefully I didn't miss it in your post] is responding to your reader's comments left on posts. I did a lot of surfing and percolating on other blogs and one thing I did notice was that it's really nice to have your comment acknowledged, people truly appreciate it (present company included :o) and most people will come back to your blog if you are consistent. Nice and informative post.
Hi Jen, it's funny you mentioned reader's comment's. That to me has always been a given. I don't understand blogger's who don't respond to someone who took the time out to leave them feedback.
Thank you for taking the time and I am glad you like the article :)
